I'm new to saltwater fishing so I might be a little confused on the correct terms.
I run a sinker slide with 2 oz weight to my line then a snap swivel then a leader down to a 3/0 circle hook. When I cast the leader seems to helicopter around line. This seems lto me it's most likely sitting on the bottom with a tangled mess. How can I prevent this or should I stop using this type of rig all together. I was thinking of using a egg sinker to a snap swivel then to the leader. Suggestions or recommenations would be most appreciated. I'm really interested in understanding what most of you use so I can be ready when the temps warm up.

there are many people who use a setup like this. they have these little devices, Dave can fill you in further, anyways, these things are plastic T shaped devices with a long verticle stick on the T that you put the plastic part on your main line, and it slides up and down your line. the long arm of the T holds your line off the main line to prevent the "helicopter" type effect your speaking of. Something like this...
